springboot startup process

springboot series startup process

Introduction to Springboot

Springboot encapsulates Spring components, which is based on convention rather than configuration. This article mainly explains the startup process of springboot framework.

Start process analysis

1. First, let's take a look at the startup class SpringApplication, which is located at org Springframework Under the boot package. Project startup source code

@SpringBootApplication
public class Application {

    public static void main(String[] args) {
        SpringApplication.run(Application.class, args);
    }

}

The SpringBootApplication annotation is used here, and then the boot application is started in the main method.

2. Let's take a look at the source code of SpringBootApplication annotation

@Target(ElementType.TYPE)
@Retention(RetentionPolicy.RUNTIME)
@Documented
@Inherited
@SpringBootConfiguration
@EnableAutoConfiguration
@ComponentScan(excludeFilters = { @Filter(type = FilterType.CUSTOM, classes = TypeExcludeFilter.class),
        @Filter(type = FilterType.CUSTOM, classes = AutoConfigurationExcludeFilter.class) })
public @interface SpringBootApplication {
    /**
     * Exclude specific auto-configuration classes such that they will never be applied.
     * @return the classes to exclude
     */
    @AliasFor(annotation = EnableAutoConfiguration.class)
    Class<?>[] exclude() default {};
    /**
     * Exclude specific auto-configuration class names such that they will never be
     * applied.
     * @return the class names to exclude
     * @since 1.3.0
     */
    @AliasFor(annotation = EnableAutoConfiguration.class)
    String[] excludeName() default {};
    /**
     * Base packages to scan for annotated components. Use {@link #scanBasePackageClasses}
     * for a type-safe alternative to String-based package names.
     * @return base packages to scan
     * @since 1.3.0
     */
    @AliasFor(annotation = ComponentScan.class, attribute = "basePackages")
    String[] scanBasePackages() default {};
    /**
     * Type-safe alternative to {@link #scanBasePackages} for specifying the packages to
     * scan for annotated components. The package of each class specified will be scanned.
     * <p>
     * Consider creating a special no-op marker class or interface in each package that
     * serves no purpose other than being referenced by this attribute.
     * @return base packages to scan
     * @since 1.3.0
     */
    @AliasFor(annotation = ComponentScan.class, attribute = "basePackageClasses")
    Class<?>[] scanBasePackageClasses() default {};
}

It is located at org Springframework Boot Under the autoconfigure package. We can see that it relies on three important annotations: SpringBootConfiguration, EnableAutoConfiguration, and ComponentScan. EnableAutoConfiguration is the class used for springboot auto configuration. We will focus on it next.

3. We are looking at the run method that SpringApplication runs

    /**
     * Static helper that can be used to run a {@link SpringApplication} from the
     * specified sources using default settings and user supplied arguments.
     * @param primarySources the primary sources to load
     * @param args the application arguments (usually passed from a Java main method)
     * @return the running {@link ApplicationContext}
     */
    public static ConfigurableApplicationContext run(Class<?>[] primarySources, String[] args) {
        return new SpringApplication(primarySources).run(args);
    }

First, create the SpringApplication application object, and then call the run method to pass in the startup parameters

    public SpringApplication(ResourceLoader resourceLoader, Class<?>... primarySources) {
        this.resourceLoader = resourceLoader;
        Assert.notNull(primarySources, "PrimarySources must not be null");
        this.primarySources = new LinkedHashSet<>(Arrays.asList(primarySources));
        this.webApplicationType = WebApplicationType.deduceFromClasspath();
        setInitializers((Collection) getSpringFactoriesInstances(ApplicationContextInitializer.class));
        setListeners((Collection) getSpringFactoriesInstances(ApplicationListener.class));
        this.mainApplicationClass = deduceMainApplicationClass();
    }
    this.webApplicationType = WebApplicationType.deduceFromClasspath();
        setInitializers((Collection) getSpringFactoriesInstances(ApplicationContextInitializer.class));
        setListeners((Collection) getSpringFactoriesInstances(ApplicationListener.class));
        this.mainApplicationClass = deduceMainApplicationClass();

This is the method for creating objects. First verify the startup class, then call the deduceFromClasspath method to infer an application type (whether it is a web project) initialization factory class, and set the Spring listener (observer mode).

4. After creating the object, let's move on to the run method

/**
     * Run the Spring application, creating and refreshing a new
     * {@link ApplicationContext}.
     * @param args the application arguments (usually passed from a Java main method)
     * @return a running {@link ApplicationContext}
     */
    public ConfigurableApplicationContext run(String... args) {
        //Enable system startup time monitoring
        StopWatch stopWatch = new StopWatch();
        stopWatch.start();
        ConfigurableApplicationContext context = null;
        //Create a report collection
        Collection<SpringBootExceptionReporter> exceptionReporters = new ArrayList<>();
        //Configuration detection can be started without display
        configureHeadlessProperty();
        //Get the running listener and get the event publishing listening
        SpringApplicationRunListeners listeners = getRunListeners(args);
        //lsnrctl start
        listeners.starting();
        try {
            //Build application parameters through startup parameters
            ApplicationArguments applicationArguments = new DefaultApplicationArguments(args);
            //Create online document environment
            ConfigurableEnvironment environment = prepareEnvironment(listeners, applicationArguments);
            //Configure ignored bean information
            configureIgnoreBeanInfo(environment);
            //Print boot boot logo
            Banner printedBanner = printBanner(environment);
            //Create online document (container)
            context = createApplicationContext();
            //Get exception collection
            exceptionReporters = getSpringFactoriesInstances(SpringBootExceptionReporter.class,
                    new Class[] { ConfigurableApplicationContext.class }, context);
            //Prepare context
            prepareContext(context, environment, listeners, applicationArguments, printedBanner);
            //Refresh context (emphasis)
            refreshContext(context);
            //After refresh
            afterRefresh(context, applicationArguments);
            //Turn off system time monitoring
            stopWatch.stop();
            //Print log
            if (this.logStartupInfo) {
                new StartupInfoLogger(this.mainApplicationClass).logStarted(getApplicationLog(), stopWatch);
            }
            listeners.started(context);
            callRunners(context, applicationArguments);
        }
        catch (Throwable ex) {
            handleRunFailure(context, ex, exceptionReporters, listeners);
            throw new IllegalStateException(ex);
        }

        try {
            listeners.running(context);
        }
        catch (Throwable ex) {
            handleRunFailure(context, ex, exceptionReporters, null);
            throw new IllegalStateException(ex);
        }
        return context;
    }

Let's just look at a few important methods. First, let's look at the createApplicationContext() method to create a context (container)

    /**
     * Strategy method used to create the {@link ApplicationContext}. By default this
     * method will respect any explicitly set application context or application context
     * class before falling back to a suitable default.
     * @return the application context (not yet refreshed)
     * @see #setApplicationContextClass(Class)
     */
    protected ConfigurableApplicationContext createApplicationContext() {
        //Get startup class
        Class<?> contextClass = this.applicationContextClass;
        //Infer context type, default web type,
        if (contextClass == null) {
            try {
                switch (this.webApplicationType) {
                case SERVLET:
                    contextClass = Class.forName(DEFAULT_SERVLET_WEB_CONTEXT_CLASS);
                    break;
                //flux type context
                case REACTIVE:
                    contextClass = Class.forName(DEFAULT_REACTIVE_WEB_CONTEXT_CLASS);
                    break;
                default:
                    contextClass = Class.forName(DEFAULT_CONTEXT_CLASS);
                }
            }
            catch (ClassNotFoundException ex) {
                throw new IllegalStateException(
                        "Unable create a default ApplicationContext, " + "please specify an ApplicationContextClass",
                        ex);
            }
        }
        //Instantiation context, container
        return (ConfigurableApplicationContext) BeanUtils.instantiateClass(contextClass);
    }

We are looking at prepareContext(context, environment, listeners, applicationArguments, printedBanner); Prepare context method

        listeners.contextPrepared(context);

        load(context, sources.toArray(new Object[0]));
